Tenant migration readiness

Know what Day 1 looks like before you sign.

Deals set dates before anyone has looked inside the tenants. In two to four weeks we inventory what is there, plan Day 1 and Day 100, scope the data and give you a migration plan with a fixed-scope quote.

Who it is for

Acquirers, businesses being acquired, sellers carving out a division, and private equity owners planning an integration or a separation. It also suits rebrands and tenant consolidation, where the dates are internal rather than set by a deal.

What we examine

  • Tenant inventory: identities, groups, mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, devices, apps and licences
  • Security posture of each tenant, before any trust is extended between them
  • Coexistence options for Day 1
  • Data scoping for splits: what goes, what stays, what is shared
  • Legal hold, retention and eDiscovery obligations
  • Infrastructure and applications that depend on the tenant, such as single sign-on apps and line-of-business systems

What you receive

  • A Day 1 plan and a Day 100 plan
  • A migration plan with waves, dates and the decisions each one needs
  • A tooling recommendation per workload, with the reasons
  • A risk list with owners
  • A fixed-scope quote for the migration

What we need from you

  • Read access to the tenants in scope, or data room information before completion
  • The deal dates and any transitional services agreement terms
  • About three hours of your team's time across a kick-off, interviews and the readout

How it runs

  1. Scoping: the deal, the dates and the tenants in scope.
  2. Discovery: inventory, security checks and data scoping.
  3. Planning: Day 1, Day 100, migration waves and tooling.
  4. Readout: the plan and the quote walked through with IT and the deal team.

Questions buyers ask

Can you do this before the deal completes?

Yes. Pre-completion planning works from what can be shared in the data room, and is refined once access is available.

Is this IT due diligence?

It covers the Microsoft 365 and identity side of IT due diligence in depth. For wider due diligence across infrastructure, security and applications, we scope it alongside.

Do we have to use you for the migration?

No. The plan and the inventory are yours to use with any provider.

How accurate is the quote?

It is fixed-scope, based on the inventory. If the scope changes, for example because the deal changes, we requote the difference.

Does it cover rebrands and consolidation?

Yes. The same method applies when the dates are set internally rather than by a deal.
